Is this a scam? Rotary International?

Have any of you heard from Rotary International for their online Customer Service work? I cant tell if they are scam or not. They pay $20 an hour and they set you up with equipment to work at home, but so far all of the communication is online only and through a HR managar and a Yahoo account.

Re: Is this a scam? Rotary International?

Yes, it is scam. Legitimate companies do not communicate with potential employees exclusively through Internet. You will receive fake check or money order in a mail . They will tell you to cash check through your bank, spend some amount for equipment and supplies and wire the rest of the money to the "client". Problem is that "client" belongs to the same scam gang that offered this "job".

At the end, you will you will owe bank few $Ks and bank may freeze your bank account and prevent you from opening any new accounts in any other bank in near future. You will also get on the police and FBI list of potential fraudsters.

Re: Is this a scam? Rotary International?

I agree with BorisZ and mumbles, 100% scam. HR manager are swamped with applicants for every perceived job opening and are not going to spend their time emailing or chatting with strangers trying to convice them to work for the company.

If you would please, post up the email address used, any website address given and the scammer's name. This could help save a potential vicitm from losing money in a fake job, cash the fake check/money order scam.

Re: Is this a scam? Rotary International?

I love the chutzpah of this scam.
The REAL Rotary International is a charitable/social organization, like the Elks, Shriners, Knights of Columbus, Loyal Order of WaterBuffalos, etc..., and I'm sure they'd be less than thrilled to hear about this little scheme.

You guys are so right on about this! To the person who referenced the rip off site, thank you! The letter I received and thought I was employed through is almost word for word exact with what you have presented, and this is in the name of Rotary International! They havent asked me for any money yet but did say they were sending me a money order. I will turn it over to local authorities! To the person about the Rotary wanting to know about this scam, I will be contacting the too!

Re: Is this a scam? Rotary International?

Official international organizations employing people don't use free email addresses at "yahoo.com". They also tend to give contact details, including physical addresses and phone numbers in all their correspondence and/or on their websites.

>>>A new laptop,Fax machine, scanner, printer,And some specified softwares and office stationaries

Re: Is this a scam? Rotary International?

I'm a Rotarian, and trust me, these are scams!

We don't have people working from home like that, and there would certainly be an interview process. RI is a professional, charitable, non profit organization.

Re: Is this a scam? Rotary International?

No company will hire you and then set up the equipment for you. That is why they outsource so they expect you to have your own equipment at home to do the job.
