Is there such a thing as too much freedom?

http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/sideshow...140439765.html

In '09 he had 21 and said he was done fathering kids. At 30 children now, that's 9 more in the past 3 years. (Obviously with multiple partners - 11 different women total).

Should this man be allowed to continue fathering children? He is clearly not responsible or financially solvent enough, as some mothers are receiving as little as $1.49 per month in child support. How are these children to be supported? Is this "Idiocracy" at work? Where does abortion play in on this? How much responsibility do the mothers have? What can we, as a society, do legally? What should we do as a society with respect to changing/writing new legislature? How should this affect the ideals of freedom as we hold them dear?

Hoping (most likely in vain) for an actual societal ethics discussion here - let's see how many posts we can last before someone cries "liberal/conservative/demonrat/repuglican" ...

Forced sterilization is not really an option and new legislation is no answer either. Creating a new class of criminal won't work.
You will always have those who are irresponsible, but may be able to reduce it by improved education... maybe working on "teaching away" the behaviors that promote such activities?
I'm not sure, but this may be a starting point for actual discussion.

Re: Is there such a thing as too much freedom?

Let's be clear--it is the responsibility of women to use birth control or close their legs once in a while.

Certain segments of society have no concept of personal responsibility or guidelines for moral conduct in the civilized world. It is this same lack of interest that leads to certain groups having AIDS rates several times the norm.

It comes from growing up without competent parents, in a nation and a time where competent parenting is little valued.

Of course, should someone high-profile mention this, they will be ostracized by those who profit from the continued failure of certain demographic groups.

Interesting thread.

Oh! men have no responsibility to practice what birth control is available to them.

That makes sense.

Not saying that. At all. You have turned full pussy for some reason. Did you know that men have no risk of getting pregnant?

Q: would you tell your daughter to just go ahead and trust their partner?

If YOU were a women, would just trust your partner on this issue?

Don't be a f-u-c-king moron.
