Orchid studios scam

they'll call you up, saying you and a friend have won a trip to the studio, for a full photoshoot experience but there's a £50 booking fee you have to pay. they claim its fully refundable, and its true it is. BUT they only refund it if you don't want to keep the photos. It seems a bit pointless going along if you're not gonna get to keep the photos. Very sneaky, watch out for

Hi kasper44,

Whilst we administer all customer queries/complaints in a fair and swift manner, we do however find this post rather unfair as all deposits get refunded unless clients use the deposit towards the order of any goods.

I work for the Customer Services Department and we would greatly appreciate that you contact us to discuss your predicament. Rest assured that we will thoroughly look into the situation, of course, with the aim of resolving such claim.

Re: Orchid studios scam

Hello there,

My girlfriend went to the Orchid studio couple of days ago for a photo shoot.
She did say that the photos she saw were of very good quality and she did look great in them.
She did have to pay £50.00 as a deposit, but, as the poster above mentioned, she "hasn't won anything".

To have 2 photos on a CD is £160 + VAT. To have about 20 photos on CD is about £2000 inc VAT, that's ridiculously pricy I think. How rich do you have to be? Anyway, I've put these prices here quoted by them, as you won't find them on their website.

On top of that the lady serving her was rude. After my girlfriend told to her that she only wants a couple of photos, she asked her - Don't you have any money? Why did you come here then?

I think that's really rude. If you only want to have rich people coming to your studio, then you better tell them on the phone before they arrive, so that they don't leave disappointed.

Re: Orchid studios scam

My sister and I went along to the studio this month after she received a phone call from the company offering her a V.I.P day, etc... So she booked an appointment and paid x2 deposits for us.(ABOUT £100) She booked this shoot after our friends had come home with great photos and seemed pleased, so all good, yes?

Well we got there at appointment time and after a orange juice waited ages to be made over as we were the last clients in. So we had our hair and make up done by lovely staff at a really high standard then waited even longer, tick tock... after waiting for 2 hours we got escorted to the studio. The photographer told us to choose best 3 outfits out of the 5 we were told to bring and get changed in a joint cold changing room. The photographer was lovely we spent about a hour having photos done and changing etc... We were told to go up stairs and wait for a time slot to come back and view the pics. We waited and waited by this point we had been at the studio over 4 hours and just wanted to eat some food (we were starving lol). We went up to view our pics and a lady showed us a slide show of our pics and then started telling us our pics would cost £98 each :O, we both laughed and then went on to point out that our friends a month before had purchased 5 pics for £100 plus the disc. The lady said no way I can not see how this was done. The best she could do was 12 pics for £698 and 6 free? We did not back down and eventually we got 3 pics each and 1 of us both ... So we got them £30 each not to painful but it was bloody hard work getting to that point. Oh, and before you view your pics they give you another clip board to fill out your mates numbers so they can call them and sell their bull to them, lol. And you get 1 free gift for every 10 mates you send to the slaughter lol... Was not a bad day but was sad how much they wanted from you at the end (staff were nice receptionists/photographer)

Gifts are: Black Mascara or Black/Brown Eye liner. (not worth it)

Re: Orchid studios scam

I tried to phone this number and didn't get an answer. I also tried to phone the other phone numbers on the Orchid studios website but wasnt able to get through to anyone.
My daughter was contacted by Orchid, saying she had won a free photo shoot. She had to pay a £100 deposit. The shoot is scheduled for tomorrow - Friday Feb 10 at 1:30 pm.
She is not able to attend because she is seriously ill and in hospital. We would like to have this money refunded as we don't know when she will be well enough to attend.
Now, reading that she was not really a winner, and she may have difficulty getting her money back if she did go, well, this makes her situation even worse.
could someone please contact me from Orchid and arrange the full refund please.

Thank you
Moomin

Re: Orchid studios scam

I too had a nice girl ring me saying that I had been put forward to have a free promo, I agreed, then she dropped the bombshell that I would need to pay a £50 deposit for me and a friend! So using another person card I paid the depoist, and she ensured me that the depoist shall be refunded on to that card on arrival, weather I wanted photos or not! She didn't make me aware that it would be a problem that I was using another persons card!
So I arrive on the day, they seemed nice and friendly at recepition! I asked where I could have my deposit back! She told me that they would rembuse me after a veiwing of our photos'. We took a seat, and was offered watered down wine!!! Make up & hair was so proffessional!! With a friendly and flawless!!
We then had our photoshoot! Our photographer seemed in a rush eating while doing our shoot! I felt so consious through-out!!
THEN!! When we came to veiwing our photots, I made my intensions clear I needed the deposit back on to this card! She hushed me and then took me and my friend into a old and messy veiwing room! She was rude! I told her I didn't like any photos of me so she then started on my friend saying that she could have 6 photos for 480£ we were like noo! She then tried blaggin we could pay monthly 12months, 90 between myself+my friend! I didn't want to commit that sort of money for photos! She asked if I had any money, I didn't! She rhen asked me why would I come to a photoshoot without any money!! She made me feel wothless! I couldn't beliwvwe how rude she was! She then kept saying can you hurry up I have other people to see! She was acting like a bully!I then asked for my deposit back! I showed her the card in which I had used, she told me she couldn't refund my deposit my money because the person wasn't with us! So it would be fraud! Which actually unless you are taking money it isn't! She became more and more rude! She then said we may aswell have 1 photo, which was thhe cost of 1 photo! Unless we would lose out deposit completely! I felt I had been forced and bullied into something I didn't want to do!! I wasn't very happy!!! But worst of all I knew she was happy that she didn't have to refund my money!
Orchid stuido!all they want is your money+you aren't leaving with your despoist!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Orchid studios scam

Beware of ALL makeover studios as the vast majority are a SCAM.

Orchid Studios is no different. it was originally Studio 64 then moved on to Sapphire Studios and is now the just as infamously bad, Orchid Studios. They change their name constantly to attempt to throw potential customers off their scam. Thank god it doesn't work.

they target people on the street and take their details, EVERYONE who gives their details to the "street team" is called by their dodgy telesales team who will say whatever they can to get you into the studio and essentially hit their sales targets. once you have handed over your deposit, go to the studio and have your "first class" photo shoot you will be taken to a room with a viewer who will show the photos that were taken during the photoshoot and whom will, once again, use sales tactics to convince you that these pictures are fabulous and you should by as many as you can. IT'S ALL SALES AND INEVITABLY, WITH SALES, YOU WILL GET SCAMS AND UNPLEASANT TACTICS.

That's the set up of Orchid Studios and most other makeover studios.

Why people hand over their money in the first place, without even Googling the company, is beyond me. If you Google this company's name its all there online as clear as day.

Don't waste your money, the pictures are tacky and not worth the cash you pay for them. Book a private photographer if you want family portrait pictures and if you aspire to be a model STAY away from makeover studios as aspiring models are their favourite prey. You don't need more than polaroids to take to an agency.

I worked at Orchid Studios, (when it was Sapphire studios lol) but left after i realised it was not what is was supposed to be and after begrudging one of the creepy directors advances i took off, fast!

Re: Orchid studios scam

I just got a phone call fromm a woman claiming my friend who had a Photoshoot had given her my name. She then started asking personal details about my friend so she could "verify her details".

I told her I wasn't going to do this .

This sounds like a phishing scam!!!

Don't do it!!

Ironically if orchid do actually reply they'd probably ask for both our details so they can "help with our issue"

I would stay well clear, sounds Luke a big con to collate data and information, and of course l from reading other posts, you cats details.

Beware, you are NOT a winner like they say, they will 'win' your details if you let them!!!

Even Though There Is Supoosed To Be A Cooling Off Period Under Uk Law They Totally Ignore This. Refuse To Pay The Money Back.they Never Answer The Phone, Will Never Pay Your Deposit Back. Bunch Of Con Artists!!!

Re: Orchid studios scam

I just believe them to be completely unprofressional and extremely bad customer.

When I called them two weeks before my actual appointment to reschedule I was told the diary manager would call me, I had called three times that week just to be hung up, on the Friday evening of that week I had been called back when I told them I needed to reschedule they just simply hung up on me.

The following Monday I received a text stating I would have to pay £1 per person to reschedule as it had been less than 7 days, that week I called them daily again just to be hung up on just fobbed off that someone would call me back.

I then sent them a email stating i wanted to cancel the whole thing and wanted my money back, funnily enough that very same day I received a phone call and was told this would be passed to the customer relations team. A week later I am still yet to hear anything or even receive a refund.

There is no way I would get a photoshoot done with them when can't even get in touch with you unless they want money.

Re: Orchid studios scam

Stay clear of Orchid Studios - they are a scam.

They harrased my wife into spending £100 as a deposit for a studio shoot and then refused to refund when she changed her mind 5 mins later. They say they are excempt from the Distance Selling Regulations so will not give a refund.

Orchid studios scam

My cousin recently got a "too good to be true" job offer and Im trying to figure out what the potential scam is. The company is supposedly a new movie production company who already has "hollywood" movie deals in the making. They are telling him he would be in charge of all the music for the movies they are producing. They promised him an incredible salary and amazing perks like travel, great benefits, an NYC apartment and a bunch more. My cousin has DJ experience, but no experience on this high a level. They also asked him if he knew of anyone else who was looking for a job, as they have many positions to fill. They said they dont have to have movie making experience, just be personable and commited. He told her about me and she seemed very interested in offering me a position with very limited information on my skills and background . I asked him what the name of this production company is but he said he was told it is not public yet so they cant go around advertising it. They took him to lunch when they met, so he has not been to their office either. They are supposed to be sending him a contract to sign soon and he seems so eager but the whole thing screams "scam" to me. I just cant figure out what the angle is. He said they have not asked him for a dime. Will the scam be in the fine print of the contract? What should he look out for other than the obvious - like them asking for any sort of money from him? Has anyone had any exeperience with this type of employment con before? I want to talk my cousin out of this before he gets too far in, but I dont know how to convince him its not ligit. Any advice anyone may have would be greatly appreciated....
