Your blood pressure can increase due to a range of medical conditions. The most common among these conditions include:
• Cushing's syndrome: In this condition, corticosteroid medications, a pituitary tumor or other factors cause the adrenal glands to produce too much of the hormone cortisol. This hormone raises blood pressure.
Diabetic nephropathy: Your kidneys contain several minuscule blood vessels that clean waste from your blood and eliminate it through urine. But diabetes can cause damage to this filtering system leading to kidney failure and thereby increased blood pressure.

Hydronephrosis: This disease causes some parts of one or both kidneys get plugged by kidney stones, a tumor or other reasons. This blocks the normal flow of urine and raises blood pressure.
Aldosteronism: In this disease, a tumor in the adrenal gland, excessive growth of normal cells in the adrenal gland or some other factor causes the adrenal glands to produce a unnecessary amount of hormone aldosterone.
